More from saint augustine

This really is the. "0ldest city". Every where you look there are great pictures just asking to be taken. It's really cool to see these historical markers talking about this building or that street dating back to the 1500's! It's the closest thing to going to Europe ! Below are some more pics

We leave here tomorrow

Beryl begone

Well we sailed into a almost hurricane, Beryl. Left the boat on a mooring ball and took a motel room. Luckily the boat was fine and we will get back our trek up to the Chessepeake.

We prepared the boat by taking off everything we could. See below

Saint Augustine

Had some challenges getting here from Daytona, we ran aground and that caused us to arrive at the mooring field after dark which due to the wind(20mph) and the current(5 knts) caused us to take a slip.

This morning during slack tide we moved to a mooring ball.

We got our bikes to the marina and started sight seeing. We really like this town, lots of charm. It's the oldest town in America. Pics below

Above Anita sitting on the ramparts of the Castillo that guards the city, that's the mooring field behind her, that's where our boat is moored.

More Miami Pictures

Anita in front of the tent from the China entrant "Sanyaz" at the Miami stopover for the Volovo around the world race!

This is the Abu Dhabi pavillion for their entry in the race! While we were in this pavillion we got the boat name done in Arabic!

They had the Volvo arond the world trophy on display! This was a before the storm pic, after the storm went thru the case was knocked over and broken, dont  know what condition the trophy itself was in.

Here is a shot of  Puma as they came in after finishing first for this leg of the race, just ahead of the storms! Very impressive machines!
Behind me is the Volvo pavillion, this is where we took refuge during the storm!

Close up of the Puma boat as they dock and get their welcome to Miami!

Above is the crew of Camper as they finished second to Puma. Camper came in durning the height of the severe thunderstorm. The campus was in a real mess!

Ft Lauderdale

4 great days in Ft Lauderdale, stayed at the city marina at Los Olas. Just 2 blocks from the beach and a trolley ride to the great shopping and dining area of Los Olas. Caught a movie at the I max theater at the Museum in the Las Olas distict, Dark Shadows!
Had a chance to catch up on laundry, wash the boat, run down to the flagship west marine and also went to Sailorman, has to be one of the largest marine resale shops in the world. Lauderdale is a sight to behold if you are a boater. Anything you can imagine for a boat is here.

Arriving in Ft Lauderdale

Left dinner key at 7am for a offshore leg to Ft Lauderdale. Dead calm conditions at departure made for a comfortable motor. Water was so calm we were able to spot turtles on the seabed 20 ft below us. The skyline of Miami , North Miami, south beach and port of the Everglades passed to port as we made the trip in 5 hrs.

Above is south beach from our boat about a mile offshore

Government cut passes to port in the above photo

We got a slip for a few days at Los olas marina in Lauderdale. Nice public marina in Lauderdale.
Will be looking to head north Sunday or Monday
