Exumas adventure

We left Nassau at the beginning of march and sailed to Allen's key, then to shroud key and then to hawksbill key! Next was Wadrick wells the hq for the Exumas land and sea park, the national park of the Bahamas. We then sailed south to Staniel key home of the swimming pigs and thunderball grotto, made famous by the james bond movie. Next came black point key, home to a thriving Bahamian settlement.

Exumas here we are

We left Nassau and sailed to Allen's cay in northern exumas. It's a pretty good place to his out when a cold front comes thru. It's also gorgeous and had a beach that's infested with iguanas! We snorkeled the coral heads in and around the cays! Lots of beautiful fish and gorgeous water! From Allen's we sailed 10 miles to Normans cay. It was a base for a drug lord in the 70's, it has a air field and ruins of his compound. It used to have a beach bar but like so many Bahamas places its being remodeled. We snorkeled a wrecked airplane in the shallow water in the anchorage, wow was that cool, there is a cool little island in the bay that had a lone palm and a bench under it. There is a monument with a couples name on it who must have their ashes under it. See pics below

We left dinner key and sailed to Great Harbor Key in the Berry islands. We had a glorious crossing. We had a full moon rise directly in front of the boat. The sunrise was gorgeous also.the photos below are from the crossing and the time we spent at Great Harbor MArina.

Bahamas finally

We finally made the jump' left dinner key at 9 am Sunday and crossed the gulf stream on a picture perfect day, nice 10 knot breeze very little wave action. Hit the banks at 530 pm! Sailed all night crossed the banks and arrived at great Harbour key at 7 am Monday! Spent 2 days there and then sailed around the top of the island and had a fantastic sail down the east coast of the Berry islands. Anchored for the night half way down and then sailed to the bottom of the chain and took a mooring at the berry island club, Next morning we sailed to Nassau it was a non eventful sail that took about 7 hrs. We got a slip at the paradise Harbour club because some weather was on the way. Will be here three days at least! See pics below
